I'm not aware that "people hate it so much", at least not until this
latest broken version was released.

Why don't you try the new version of WLM and then tell me why it's
disliked so much. But that wasn't what I was talking about. I was
referring to Windows Mail which came with Vista.

Big mistake! WLM is far superior to WM. Maybe you just didn't bother
learning how to use it.
Superior how? What's to learn? It's fine if you have one email address and
one or two NSPs. If you have more it's a Royale PIA. The bells and
whistles don't interest me.

Not really. You'll see the first complaint posted and re-posted numerous
times.

Good for you.
Anyone not happy with WLM can keep WM if they like it. Not everyone gives a
hoot about all the stuff that comes with WLM.

You can also move WindowsMail to W-7 and remove WindowsLiveMail. A quick
Google will show that many people hate WLM. We did so I loved WM from my
Vista PC to my W-7 PC.
..............

I have tried to install Windows Mail to Win-7 but in vane.
Install it under Programs (x86) or get the dll for 64-bit if your W-7 is 64
bit. Then install it under regular programs. It works fine either place.
32-bit under Programs (x86) or under regular programs if you add the proper
64-bit dll.

WLM 2011 is a complete disaster !!! How could Microsoft
did that to its customers? Shame... disgusting...
I agree. It really stinks. They ruined a good email/Usenet client. I hated
it and will not use it.

I have 4 email addresses in WLM, no problems using any of them.
(And I don't use any of the "bells and whistles".)

Email works fine. It is a failure as a newsreader.

Does the quote demarkation problem exist for email, or just in the
newsreader part of the program? I can't check for myself because I
uninstalled WLM 2011.

I was very happy with WLM 2009. Thought it was great. So I thought that
2011 would be good too. However it is broken and a real mistake to install
so yes I do hate 2011.

I am with you on that one, I installed this morning and so far I am not too
happy with it.

They have totally messed up the news reader. One can't sort properly,
threads don't open automatically when the first message is opened.

The sorting is so bad that it should be labeled "shuffle" instead.

Just found another thing, a signature can't be added when replying.

In short, the previous version had some annoyances which this version turned
into complete bugs and added a few more.

And the worst thing about it is that it doesn't deal with quoted
material at all. Look above - you have 4 people's comments that all run
together with no indication about who said what. Did "Don" say
everything above? Is that acceptable to you? I sure as hell wouldn't
want my words attributed to someone else.

Please dump WLM 2011. It's even worse for your readers than it is for
you. It should not be used on Usenet.

WLM 2011 inserts Sigs in Replies just fine - look at the bottom of this
post. Some prior versions had that problem, and 2011 still has trouble with
line-feeds in Sigs, but it otherwise handles Sigs pretty well. It even let
me add the Signature icon, with drop-down menu to select from several Sigs,
to my QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) for this Compose window.

?Hi, Skeeter - and Nil.

Sorry, but there's no ">" indicator for quotes in email Replies, either.

Unless you're doing some manual manipulation, it appears to be
inserting the sig at the top of the post rather than the bottom where
it belongs, so I don't think I would say it does a fine job of that.

Above, you even say, "look at the bottom of this post", but your sig
didn't end up at the bottom of the post. It ended up at the bottom of
your contribution, but since you top posted, the rest of the post
falls below your sig. That's not proper client behavior.

Yes, it adds sigs, but it's NOT at all fine. It seems to have included
all the previously quoted material as part of the sig... which means it
therefore gets eliminated from any subsequent follow-ups.

Geez, this program shows itself to be more and more broken the more I
look at it.

?Hi, Char.

The answer is much simpler - and more embarrassing - than that. I simply
forgot to click the Sig icon before clicking Send.

And I almost always top-post. And I try to stay out of top/bottom post
arguments.

Let's try it on this one...

If you'd simply configure it to bottom post, it would get the sig right.
Top-posting was only 'acceptable' in the microsoft.public groups. Now that
they have been abandoned, it's time to learn correct netiquette and bottom
post.
