Hi. This is my first problem since I installed Windows 7 over 3 years ago.
It is this; my wordpad application has stopped working and I don't know what to do about it. I am running Home Premium. Help, I can't access my docs.

Try running:
sfc /scannow
from an administrator command prompt. I'm not sure wordpad is one of the system files that verifies but it is worth trying and it can't hurt anything.

You might also scan your system for a virus in safemode as explained in the beginning of my post >>HERE<< (I know you don't have a BSOD but the virus scan info is the same).

You could boot to a W7 Installation DVD and on the Install screen choose the "System Repair" option in the bottom corner.

I did a system repair from the installation dvd as you suggested; it did the trick.
I'm very grateful. Thanks.

You're welcome; glad it worked out.
