Waking from Sleep

From the start menu, I select to have the computer sleep, but it has been
waking up after 1 or 2 minutes. I think the DSL is causing the problem, it's
lights start flashing just before the computer wakes. Is there any setting
that can be adjusted to keep the computer asleep?

You might have "Wake on LAN" selected.
This can be disabled through the Control Panel.

save power CHECKED

In addition to what the others have posted, if you have a NIC on the
motherboard, you may have to go into the BIOS. Look under the Power (or
similar title) category for a "Power on by LAN" or "Power on by PCI device"
setting and disable that also. Even though I had "Wake on LAN" disabled in
Windows, my Asus MB still brought my PC ought of sleep occasionally because
of network activity.

*** The problem I have on my Windows 7 notebook is that if I allow it to be
turned off, I can't reconnect to the network when coming out of hibernation
unless I manually disconnect then reconnect.
Allow this device to wake the computer NOT CHECKED
***This is all I needed to do on my notebook to keep it from waking up AND
being able to reconnect upon wake-up.
