I found this interesting little site which lets you map the countries you have visited. So far I'm up to 17 countries, but most of those are in Europe - so that's like visiting 17 US States

How many countries have you visited? I bet we've got some big travellers here!

BTW, pasting the code they give you on that site doesn't work - you need to paste part of the the code to an image box. I've highlighted it below - it's the SRC="xxxx" tag:

<img src="http://chart.apis.google.com/chart?...|PT|NL|MT|LU|IT|GR|DE|FR|CZ|AT|BE|JM|MX|CH|CY" width="450" height="300" ><br/>visited 17 states (7.55%)<br/><a href="http://douweosinga.com/projects/visited?region=world">Create your own visited map of The World</a>

The highway from New York to Boston doesn't pass through it so neither did I.

And the only part of California I saw was 30 minutes in the airport on our hop to Hawaii.

Actually the main way from NY to Boston does go through RI. I-95

2 other possibilities are I-95 to I-91 to through New Haven, Hartford to I-84 to Sturbridge to I-90 to Beantown.

Or I-87 north to I-84 east through Hartford etc.

# 2 is the fastest but involves many more interstate Hwys.

Well, since I'm an idiot and can't figure out how to do that silly map thing, I'll just quote the famous truckers song... "I've Been Everywhere Man, I've Been Everywhere!"
LOL! That's cause I used to be a long-haul trucker in the '70s.

"I've Been Everywhere"

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road,
When along came a semi with a high an' canvas-covered load.
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack, with me you can ride."
And so I climbed into the cab and then I settled down inside.
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand.
And I said, "Listen, I've traveled every road in this here land!"

[Chorus:]
I've been everywhere, man.
I've been everywhere, man.
Crossed the desert's bare, man.
I've breathed the mountain air, man.
Of travel I've had my share, man.
I've been everywhere.

I've been to:
Reno, Chicago, Fargo, Minnesota,
Buffalo, Toronto, Winslow, Sarasota,
Wichita, Tulsa, Ottawa, Oklahoma,
Tampa, Panama, Mattawa, La Paloma,
Bangor, Baltimore, Salvador, Amarillo,
Tocapillo, Baranquilla, and Perdilla, I'm a killer.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Boston, Charleston, Dayton, Louisiana,
Washington, Houston, Kingston, Texarkana,
Monterey, Faraday, Santa Fe, Tallapoosa,
Glen Rock, Black Rock, Little Rock, Oskaloosa,
Tennessee, Hennessey, Chicopee, Spirit Lake,
Grand Lake, Devils Lake, Crater Lake, for Pete's sake.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Ombabika,
Schefferville, Jacksonville, Waterville, Costa Rica,
Pittsfield, Springfield, Bakersfield, Shreveport,
Hackensack, Cadillac, Fond du Lac, Davenport,
Idaho, Jellico, Argentina, Diamantina,
Pasadena, Catalina, see what I mean-a.

[Chorus]

I've been to:
Pittsburgh, Parkersburg, Gravelbourg, Colorado,
Ellensburg, Rexburg, Vicksburg, Eldorado,
Larimore, Admore, Haverstraw, Chatanika,
Chaska, Nebraska, Alaska, Opelika,
Baraboo, Waterloo, Kalamazoo, Kansas City,
Sioux City, Cedar City, Dodge City, what a pity.

[Chorus]

Driven across and back on I-80. Switched planes in some others. Spent a good amount of time in most eastern states.

Spent time in Canada and Jamaica too.

Oops, should have ticked Arizona too.

In terms of 'other countries' only two if you count home. The other being unzud.

If you count going over water by boat or air then 3 as I've both flown my plane and taken the overnight ferry to Tassie (Tasmania).

If you just go by time/distance then another three as to get to South Australia is almost a full days drive (for me) and to Queensland a bit over two days if you push it and to the Australian Capital Territory (Canberra) another longish days drive.

I imagine you could get to more Countries in Europe in two days driving.

Mychael, If you took a ferry to Tasmania then you've been there.

I'm a fan of MappaTassie but it's been a while since I've been there :p
