Virus - Safe Mode

I have a Ransom virus on my machine so I'm starting in safe mode. I need to access my Address Book but when I launch Office 2010 it starts and then closes down - as if it needs an internet connection to stay open. Is it possible to go into the registry to get Office 2010 to start in offline mode?
