suspend/sleep not working

Hi - never had a single problem since installing Windows 7 Jome Premium
(well, not with computers, anyway :) ). Then out of the blue the PC has
stopped sleeping.

It's set to blank screen after ten minutes and go into sleep mode after
30. It blanks the screen okay, but never sleeps.I can put it to sleep
manually (start/shutdown/sleep).

Checking powercfg - energy shows USB sound card, webcam, external drive
and their relevant USB Root Hubs are "not entering suspend state".

Any ideas on why this should be - particularly as nothing has changed in
my setup?

TIA - Peter

I uninstalled Norton Internet Security 2010 and replaced it with MSE
(Microsoft Security Essentials) and my computer now goes into screensaver
mode followed by screen off in accordance with my settings.

I haven't set it up to sleep, so I can't be sure about your situation, but
perhaps NIS 2010 or another background task is responsible.

It helps to shake the outbox to make sure everything has gotten out.

That sort of thing happens pretty often, and to some pretty reasonable
people, so I just assume something went wrong, probably just in order to
embarrass the poster :)

Surrealistic humor.

I was likening your sending problem to shaking the last few cookie crumbs
out of a box of cookies.

And by coincidence, just a few minutes ago in another NG, one of my posts
just vanished into the ether. I'm not kidding or playing April Fools,
either.
