Windows Update vs Belarc Advisor

Doing a complete Recovery on my Daughter's Sony VAIO Laptop (model VPCSA2FGX/B1) due to extreme slowness. The factory files were on a HD partition which was OK. Using the VAIO Care app which was first updated, recommended updates were installed, then the Recovery App was applied. After completion and all Windows Updates were installed (which then said Your up-to-date), I then installed and ran Belarc Advisor 8.5.1, which said I was missing 6 security updates.
Repeated running of Windows Updates & Belarc gave the same results. So which one is right? What needs to be done at this point?

Go with MS. Then cross check the missing KB security updates Belarc says is missing to what you have installed.

I'm running 8.1 Pro, fully updated and Belarc is telling me I'm missing 1 security update....I'm not.
