Windows Update running a long time and still no results

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 on my previous Vista computer. I haven't done the activation yet.

I tried to run Windows Update and it's been running for a very long time with no results. Do I have to activate before I can obtain updates?

Hello Cindy,

You would first need to activate windows in order to get the Windows updates working.

Please activate and try once again and if it does not work, let me know.

I activated at 2 a.m. this morning. I clicked on Windows Update to run it and went back to bed. At 9 a.m. Windows Update was still running. If there are no updates it should have shown "Windows is up to date" or something.
