Windows 7 build 7264 has arrived 19 days after the last x86/x64 ISO leak. The x64 and x86 ISOs are both making their rounds.

  1. There is no changelog; we have no idea what's new.
  2. You're on your own to find legitimate links.
  3. Your beta and/or RC keys will not work with this build until you follow step 4.
  4. You must take files from a build prior to 7260 and patch 7264 with them to activate.

Thanks Thrax :)

Out of interest, have you tried this build? I've not used a new build for quite a while now, as it's so close to coming out and very little changes.

-The license has changed, they've gotten rid of the "Release Candidate" part.
-The running program tiles on the taskbar have a tinge of the icon's colour in the glow when you mouse over. May have been there before, I just noticed it. It would not surprise me if it has been there for a long time.
-RC keys don't work

Pretty much runs like 7260. Like a dream.

I installed it last night and got to tinker around with it very briefly. It may have fixed a latency + framerate problem I was having with the RC and build 7232, but I'll need a few hours this evening to test it. So far so good!

What moving to 7260+ right now would gain you is a pretty good OS, not many, if any, bugs to speak of, that will last you until the time bomb starts to go off in March. It may be cheaper by then, and new issues will have been discovered. I will probably wait until then to buy it preloaded on a new unit.

There have been a lot of issues fixed since 7100, but it looks pretty much the same. I think it runs a lot better, faster and more solid. Especially 7264. ;):D

No it is not. RTM signoff doesn't occur for another few weeks.

The only issue is that you can't activate it, but other than that it is still perfectly usable.

First, you get 30 days to activate, then on day 29 use the slmgr.vbs command to roll that back to 0. You can do this 3 times total.

But 7264 is perfectly usable. I encourage it, in fact. It runs like a dream. If I was ever going to get married, I marry Windows 7. :burnout:

Due to potential issues regarding the legality of activating this build, I am not comfortable providing step-by-step instructions to circumvent the block in build 7264.

It's not all that hard. Takes about 5 minutes to patch, but again there are legal concerns.
