Paul Thurrott mentions on his blog that Windows 7 build 7229 has leaked and that we are getting close to the RTM escrow:

and it's the last build before the build 7300 RTM escrow build. How can you tell it's getting close to final? The build no longer accepts Beta/RC product keys

I have read that they do in fact work.

I will know for sure, as far as RC keys are concerned, in a couple of hours.

I was not here, I did not say this. :p

EDIT: It's confirmed. Public keys do work for this build.

Hash Codes:

You can check the MD5 hash of your image with MD5Checker, to ensure that the image you’ve obtained has not been modified or tampered in any way from the original. Thanks to Gophakyorselv from our forums for providing live updates of the leak in our forums. The rest of the hash tags will be updated as soon as they are being provided.

Woot Woot I just upgraded from Win7-7100 to Win7-7229 everything went smoothly - downloaded and checked the MD5 for a legit copy - I will say my key for 7100 didnt work for install so I tried one of my 7000 beta keys and went without a problem

If you have 7100, 7127, 7137 or 7229 installed and working good, I would suggest you stay with it. Between now and final RTM bits, Microsoft will begin tracing and tracking back leak sources. Every build of Windows 7 sends data back to Microsoft. If you run one of the RTM candidate builds and connect it to the internet, they will know your IP address. They haven't aggressively put in effort for the leaked builds so far, but I can assure you they will for the RTM candidate builds, which are internal. When they start allowing you to buy final release product keys, full or upgrade, I would suggest you do. That date is probably sooner then later.

BTW: 7238 is not compiled yet.

To add to OP, MS might also freeze other windows products used with the leaked build. Also registeration of the build can also if you used it for a business or a registered partnership then you are screwed they can freeze all of your oem's and other software becarefull I am sticking with the RC and then gonna buy Ultimate for my new build. cant say my source for this but it is from microsoft.... Just becarefull

I'm pretty sure, as are others, that this isn't going to happen to those installing the leaks.

FUD, as they say.

BTW, 7238?

Where the heck did that come from?

With Microsoft stalking us, we might as well all switch back to 7100 lol.
