Windows 7 and IE8 problem

W

Walter E.

I bought a new Windows 7 computer from HP. Windows 7 comes with IE8.

Turns out that most people have a problem problem with IE8: Whenever you
open a new website from a shortcut, the new window opens in the "normal
size" (partial screen), instead of in the "maximized" size which fills the
whole screen. (I am not talking about a "full" screen.)

This is a real nuisance because it means you have to click on the "maximize"
field in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Judging by the number of
posts on this subject, this is a common problem. The bigger problem is that
nobody has a solution. (Re-sizing the screen and closing it, does not work.)
HP has not solution, either.

Has anyone come across a solution to this pain? Anyone in this group who is
afflicted with the same problem?

Thanks

Walter

Got this sol'n from technologu questions.com

To get maximized windows from Desktop and QL shortcuts, create a few
shortcuts to your browser on your Desktop, or Quick Launch bar, then
edit the shortcuts:

1. Change the "Target:" to:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" http://lpga.com

(as an example site.)

2. After adding the internet address, change the "Run:" pane to "Maximized".

(That will make those shortcuts open IE maximized.) There's also
software available that will switch opened windows to the maximized
condition. Here's one:

Nope - "most" people don't.

You're the first post *I've* seen about this - if "most" people have
this problem, where are the MILLIONS of posts about it?

Nope - "most" people don't.
Yes, most people do, in fact this problem has been around since IE5 or
so, nothing new.
But i recon *most* people can't be bothered.
