Today, I got a email from Newegg, their lastest offering was a 6 core processor. An AMD Phenom II x6 1090T Black Edition Processor, AMD's first native 6 core consumer desktop processor. It has 3.2GHz, 6MB cache, unlike any AMD processor before it. It can be viewed and bought from Newegg, the price is $309.99. The cost is just a little more than the latest quad core Intel. It's worth a look for someone who is looking for the latest processor on the market, and has the cash (or plastic) to pay for it.

Wow! Six cores is a lot of cores! I can't imagine how much work it would take to require 6 cores to handle it.

And to think I just this afternoon upgraded to a quad core. Hmmm, I'm still behind times. LOL

I doubt my computer would even handle it, that has to be a monster processor. I figured AMD would break the barrier first, but honestly, I was looking for a 8 core to be next. AMD will generate big sales with this offering, I mean BIG!

Not that many people will need six cores. The new AMD six core CPU still resides on the 45nm die. So it's not any bigger really.

Mabye many people wont need six cores, but rest assured, there will be many that will want it anyway. Kind of like it was described on here before, one of those "my thing is bigger than yours" deals. This product will skyrocket in sales.

The Phenom II X4 965 is almost unequivocally faster if you're not doing CAD, 3D modeling or media encoding.

Where it says "Financing Available" in the description of the item above, you'll probably need it! Intel is high priced stuff.:D

In 2011 I will build a new main Computer from the Motherboard up but I will stay with a i7 quad core as my day to day computing does not warrant a six core CPU. I will be more inclined to spend any extra on what ATI bring out after the 5970 and maybe quiet water cooling :)
