Running Windows 7 Home Premium

As of today I am not able to run any programs including IE or Firefox without running a search from my favorites. All of my programs now try to open with Windows Media which is no help whatsoever. Please help if you can. I would greatly appreciate any and all help I can get as my laptop is now useless.

Restore your Default File Type Associations .....

Scroll down to exe - Executable application files > click it >
and follow the instructions at the top from #1 to #6.


Scroll down to lnk - Shortcut link (LNK) files.
and do the same as above.
