SOLVED Problem with Seagate Backup plus

I just have a 5G portable Seagate drive. I plugin the power and connect the USB cable. The main window does not display the drive, but the USB Safe Remove Device software see that device. Do I need install any extra software for this device?. Thank you for any help

Unless the hard drive is partitioned and formatted then it isn't ready for use by windows.

Plug in the drive & run diskmgmt.msc, then take a screenshot and upload it to your next post.

The drive is just got out of the box. Please the screenshot in the attachments By the way, I have an extra question: On the window 7, how do you get into the DOS window? (to run an exe files?).

You see there in your picture where it says Disk 5? Right-click on the words "Seagate Backup Plus Drive" and see if you have the option to assign a drive letter; if so, assign one.

As for a DOS window, go to Accessories > Command Prompt
NOTE: if you need administrator privileges then right-click on the Command Prompt selection and choose Run as Administrator

I assigned a letter to the drive, reboot the computer and now it works correctly.
