SOLVED office 2010 side-by-side configuration error

when i try to open any of the office 2010 applications i get the message:

the application failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect.

does anyone know how to correct this? (this pc runs win vista home premium sp2). i did an SFC/scannow and there was nothing to report.

i did a sxstrace and have the following output:

i was wondering if installing MS visualc++ 2008 runtime would help.

Well this funny little article from Microsoft says it should never happen in W7. Anyway you might try their simple solution.

You might also read over THIS. It mentions pieces may not have installed. Also mentions AVG anti-virus could be a problem.

side-by-side cofiguration error when launching office apps

cant believe the problem is fixed. i installed call of duty black ops and it installed one of the vcredist files and office 2010 works works.
