Observation: Win7 driver installation

I just got a laptop in for repair that needed a fresh install of Win7.

Whenever I've done this in XP I always save the inf and system32
folders so I can pickup the drivers from the original installation.

I normally point the installer to the "inf" folder then browse to
system32 as directed by the installer.

With Win7 there is a difference in that if all the needed files are not
in one location, the installer "gives up".

Not a big deal, all I had to do was move the contents of the "inf"
folder to "system32".

This post is not a question, I simply wanted to relate my experience.

I always download fresh drivers for a new install as drivers are often
part the of the problem.

In this case I went to the website of the mfg (Toshiba) and could not
find the needed drivers.

I do volunteer work for an NPO and the machine was working OK...
but to make sure there was nothing left from the original user, a fresh
install was needed.
