Win7 (x64?) Sunday morning observations.

The lv file
----------------

There's a file at the root level called lv (i? L ?) that's an MSI
installer log, best that I can tell. I scrolled down until I noticed
this...

MSI (s) (60:E0) [02:01:26:284]: SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Program
Files (x86)\Downloaded Installations\{75EE2023-AD89-4C39-B17A-
846DB62FA1D6}\VAIO Quick Web Access.msi is permitted to run at the
'unrestricted' authorization level.

Why would I want to allow full control to a web access for an update?!?
Couldn't there be a lesser permission to accomplish updates?

Sloppy Control Panel "Programs and Features" Uninstall
--------------------------------------------------------

I was looking in %user%\App Data\Local and there is a folder
"VirtualStore" containing remnants of removed programs all over the
place. Is this a Win7 x64 compatibility mechanism?

I had deleted a program and reinstalled it and upon re-setting it back
up, it found my old settings. This is what caused me to search for where
it was stored. Well, "VirtualStore" is the place!

PLUS: The folders get odd names. "Thunderbird" (thinking mozilla)
actually contained my Eudora email prefs (to what degree, I don't know on
quick inspection).

Maybe the installer scripts (?) have to get Win7 smart???
