I want to install the Windows 7 upgrade from XP on a new and larger hard drive. Will I be able to get verification, and then do a clean install on the new hd? Thanks.

You may be able to install Windows 7 on your system, but with XP, a clean install is required. You may even be able to dual boot between the two, but shrink XP as far as possible for you. On a 100GB drive, 25GB for XP, the remainder for Windows 7.
