Need to manually make a dump on a frozen machine

EDIT: Asked my dad, who is a techie himself, he says that the machine needs to be alive enough to make a dump in the first place.

I'm sorry for your situation; Dad's right I'm afraid.

Sometimes the wording of a thread title can makes an impression even before you open it. I doubt you're feeling humorous right now with your PC on the fritz but this was my first thought reading yours ...

True your machine has to be in working order. Also ensure you got small memory dump set:



There are 2 causes of BSOD's - (1) software and drivers and/or (2) hardware.

1) On the software part, attach your current drivers' list:

Run a System Health Report by typing perfmon /report in the Start Menu search box. Save it as an HTML file and attach with your post here.


2) Do some hardware testing, start with memtest overnight:
