Well everything I've run on XP has installed on win7, seemingly without issue. Even some stuff that I really thought would be too old.
However one program that i could not put on is Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0.

I terminated the install when 7 flagged it as having known compatibility issues.

So I'm looking for an alternative. I'd bought version 6 under a student license so got it for a good price, disinclined to pay full retail for a 7 compatible version.

No, Foxit Reader won't allow you to create or modify PDF files.

You have to have their Pro version to do it.

I use Nitro PDF Professional myself, much smaller footprint on the hard drive and faster too. Plus it doesn't load up a bunch of unnecessary junk like Adobe's Acrobat does.

I never went so far as to completing the install to find out. Once I started the install 7 popped up a warning that there were known compatibility problems with this version.

So I just terminated the install.

I think you can save documents in MS Word as a PDF.
Don't know about editing.

In 2010 you can save doc etc as PDFs but, as you guessed, you cannot reopen the PDFs with word so cannot edit either.

Could not find a reliable downloadable version of Adobe Acrobat 8.
