microsoft excel 2002

i have had excel working completely fine for quite a few years now, and all of a sudden my spreadsheets now have changed colour to orange and i cannot open them anymore it is asking me by more software or activate what i have already but this does now acknowledge my pass key anymore. Is it out of date or is there some other problem occured?

If I had to guess I would suspect a virus; since it is in excel I would suspect a macro virus. I would start by scanning your system in safe mode as explained in the start of my post HERE. I know you don't have a BSOD but the virus scanning is still the same.
