[SOLVED]

I was foolish enough to install the Internet Explorer 9 Beta.

Immediately after running it for the first time it crashed with a 'IE9 has stopped working' error.

I cannot find a way to uninstall it. I'll stick with Firefox.

Any ideas?

It doesn't appear in CCleaner >Tools >Uninstall, nor does it appear in the Control Panel's uninstall feature.

Go to MS and download and install IE8. That should get rid of IE9.

Go into Programs and features - view installed updates. (on the left). You will mostb likely find it there. Click it and uninstall. IE 8 will automatically be restored

I concur, that's where it will be so you may uninstall it.

[SOLVED]

I thought it was kept in the installed Windows Updates listings.
Indeed it is (or was). I looked there before, but must have missed it.

It's put IE8 on in it's place, but I'm definitely going to stick with Firefox from now on.

Thanks to all who responded.

For the record, I have installed IE9 on several systems, with no regrets. It is great, fast, easy to use, and except for a few sites that fail to conform to the Web Standards, I've had no problems with the sites I visit.

It didn't work for me. My be my installation as quite a few things don't work: I can't add Gadgets, Jump Lists don't exist, and I can't install IE9.

Well, I think you have something else wrong then, besides IE9. But it is a beta, so not a big deal at this point.

Microsoft's web browser is the only one I've ever seen the installation of which requires rebooting the whole system. Jesus, join the century, Redmond.

That's because IE is used for other features within Windows. And IE9 requires a couple Windows Updates too.

And to be truthful, I don't mind doing "a" (as in "1") reboot after a major update. That's the only way to ensure everything has been unloaded and deleted properly, and fully. It tells me all is okay.

Windows Internet Explorer 9

Web browsing is the No. 1 thing people do on their Windows-based PC, and as such, they increasingly expect the same experience they associate with their PC applications from their favorite Web-based e-mail service, photo site or social network site. This kind of immersive experience does not occur on the Web today, and using a browser is often associated with limited performance and interactivity. Microsoft developed Windows Internet Explorer 9 to help change this.
