Installed MS Expression Web, but can't tell where

C

I have acquired a new computer and installed MS Expression Web on it
(Win7) and while I can launch the program, for the life of me, I
cannot see where it was installed. I have one drive "C" and I cannot
find the location of the installed folder. Can anyone point me in the
right direction?

Thanks

I'm curious...why would you want to know where it was installed?

Right click on the Start menu entry that you use to launch it. Select
properties, then look at the Target field.

I have an IT background, so I like to know where things are.
Right click on the Start menu entry that you use to launch it. Select
properties, then look at the Target field.
The Target field has "Microsoft Expression Web", and it is greyed out.
The Start-in box is blank.

So, any thoughts on where it is installed?

Hmm, you're giving people with IT backgrounds a bad name by asking
such basic questions.

A quick Google search says the default installation directory is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Expression\Web 4\ but they say you
can change it during initial installation.

The executable seems to be here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Expression\Web 4\ExpressionWeb.exe

I don't use the program so I can't easily verify it, but start your
search there.

Did you look in Program Files ?

e.g.
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Expression and its subfolders.

Yes I did, nothing showing there! No "Microsoft Expression" in there.

Yes I did, nothing showing there! No "Microsoft Expression" in there.
With web site development tools, a few of them are totally
web based, and the editing and computing, happens on the server
end. The only thing at the client end, is the usage of a
web browser, to see the results. So if you're using a product
like that, there might be virtually nothing but a bookmark
in your browser, on your end. Even the output files might
be stored on the server end only.

If you've done a search of the entire disk for "Expression"
and found nothing, that's the next available explanation.

Still wondering if you had a chance to look where I suggested you
look...

It is in "Microsoft Expression" Folder: See this picture:

You can look for the folder in:

C:\Program Files (x86)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Question - if you look at your shortcut
properties, what does it have as the "target" and also, the "start-in"
folders? Seeing what you have in there might help me.

Thanks again!

Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Expression\Web
4\ExpressionWeb.exe"

Start-in: blank - nothing here.

Hope this helps.

If the shorcut (is the same as the one referenced in your first post) was created by Expression what you are seeing is normal and
also consistent with the same approach applied by other application software (e.g. Office from **MSFT**)

The shortcut for starting Expression exists in the subfolders noted earlier.

Just create a new shortcut from that file will contain, if applicable, the start in, target locations.

I do not have the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft
Expression\Web 4\ExpressionWeb.exe" on my new computer? So, not sure
what the shortcut is pointing to.

What version of Expression Web have you got? Version 2 is on this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Expression\ExpressionStudio 2

For version 2 I bought the studio with everything included such as
graphics editor, bled etc etc. For version 4 I bought only the Web
Development tool because I wanted something that could handle HTML5 and
CSS3.

Well it looks like your product might have been damaged so
re-installation might solve it.

Have you experienced any problems running the product? I read the
entire thread and didn't see what the problem is. I suggest post your
question on Expression Forum on Microsoft Website as they can solve your
problem pretty quickly and even help you with activating the product.
MSFT in development normally answers most questions on that forum.

I have the package for the program, and it does not list a version
number on it - it say "Upgrade" - for licensed users of any Microsoft
FrontPage product - I had Frontpage installed on the old computer.
But, it appears to be a version about 2007 from emails printouts in
the box.

I'm not having a problem running it as yet, but just concerned that I
cannot locate were it is installed. There is a folder in:

c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Expression

that might be it, but the shortcut does not point to it?

So, thanks for your reply. Any other thoughts appreciated.

Because it’s a special shorcut (just like Office applications and other third party software)
