I downloaded the untility provided by Intel as advertised on the Microsoft website for XP mode which says my processor does support virtualization. However I cannot find a way to enable it, it seems my OEM hasn't provided any option in the BIOS to do this, is there any other way?

Which system do you have, and do you know the motherboard model? Hopefully there will be a BIOS update which you can use to enable it (seems strange it is disabled by default). :)

It's an Acer Aspire 5685WLMi, not sure of the motherboard model. I have the latest BIOS available from Acer for this model so seems to be a bit of a brick wall.

I've done some googling and it looks like others with Acer laptops have the same problem - a CPU that supports VT but no way to enable it :(

Hopefully they will provide a BIOS update in future where you can change this.
