do i need a better computer?

we are writing a book about a vacation using blurb booksmart. it will have 1000pictures.
so we are going thru thousands looking at them.
yes we take too many pics.
anyway... after looking at a pile of pics on the computer - it just freezes.
so we have to keep restarting it.
it is a satellite P500 model PSPGSC with 4gb ram. win7
what kind of computer do we need that will not freeze?
or do we just clear the cache? kinda hard when it has frozen!

may be it's a memory leek see: (link removed)
as your computer seems to be enough strong with i7 and other specs but you can buy a new one from amazon.
Also check for file system errors using checkdisk

I would recommend you do not waste your time and have a look at gaming PC.

Pictures take up very little on a computer, even hundreds of them. The software you use to view/edit/manipulate them may be the problem; try a different program.

And there are reasons to have a gaming computer but just to view still photos would not be one of them.
