date icon missing

Until this morning Win7 helpfully showed date and time in the
notification bar. Today, for no reason I can find, the date has
vanished. I can't find an option to bring it back under notification
area icons - anybody know how?

I experienced something like that when setting up the screen parameters.
I use the Windows Classic theme, and the date appears or not depending
on the taskbar width/font size combination. You can also restore it by
unlocking the taskbar and setting it to double width.

Open the "Personalization" window. In the lower left, open the "Taskbar
and Start Menu Properties" message box. Under the Taskbar tab, uncheck
the "Use small icons" box.
