Whenever I try to boot the installer from the DVD, i get an error message that says:
"The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum."
I tried 2 different dvds but that didn't work so i am re-downloading the iso file.
is this going to fix the problem or should i try something else?

Redownload the ISO and check it's checksums against the following,

Code:
File: 7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.iso
Size: 2618793984 bytes
MD5: f9dce6ebd0a63930b44d8ae802b63825
SHA1: 6071184282B2156FF61CDC5260545C078CCA31EE
CRC32: AABA5A48
You can easily check MD5 hashes with the WinMD5Sum utility. Download it here : http://www.nullriver.com/downloads/Install-winMd5Sum.exe

Open the downloaded ISO using that utility and it will calculate the MD5. Enter the quoted MD5 there to check if it's same with the ISO. It might take some time and the program will be unresponsive for that period. Don't panic and close the app, it's usual.

Re-downloading the ISO should fix the problem, you can check the MD5 checksum using the info debsuvra posted above :)

ok, if i run the checker program on the iso file, I get one checksum (f99335d72898488c94b938da211fd79c) but have nothing to compare it to. I redownloaded the ISO file and still have the same problem. I even burned the disc at 8x instead of 16x. nothing works.

Your checksum does not match to the official Windows 7 Beta 32 bit DVD. So the download is damaged. You need to redownload it, better download it off torrents. Torrent downloads usually don't corrupt.

Great! It seems you are excited. That's good, I was too when I first downloaded it @ 8th Jan. Hope you have a pleasant experience installing it this time. :)
