Can't find a folder

Or a subfolder. I lost all my browser bookmarks for some reason today after my
computer unespectedly powered off and rebooted. I can find the bookmarks, but
according to "Search" of the C drive, they're in this location:

file:///C:/Users/Rick/AppData/Roaming/Mozilla/SeaMonkey/Profiles/zw9iehqu.Rick/bookmarks.html

I can find C:/Users/Rick but then there's no AppData file as shown in the above
string. So I can't import the bookmarks to my browser. Anyone have any idea why
the AppData subfolder isn't where the search shows it should be?

I'm posting here because I'm using Windows 7 Professional, 64bit. The browser is
not Internet Explorer, but one called Seamonkey, version. 2.0.14.

Thanks for any help or suggestions as to where this AppData subfolder is. Oh,
and I have show all hidden files and folders checked so there should be no
hidden files involved.

Do you have "show hidden files, folders & drives" turned on? "AppData"
is a normally hidden folder.

Yes, I did/do have show hidden files and folders checked.

But I just solved the problem. I was looking all over the place for a fix, and
found a box in Control Panel>Folder Options that read Hide Protected Operating
System Files. I unchecked it and AppData appeared. So now I have my bookmarks
but I'm still missing all my passwords and cookies. Still desperate to find
those.

Are you using Windows Explorer or a cmd window?

I can't see the file in a command window, but it's easily visible in the
Explorer.

And really, I would double-check the show-all status.

Also look into your APPDATA environment variable. Maybe yours is unusual
:)

BTW, if I use dir with the /ah switch, the appdata directory appears,
but then there also appears other crap which makes the output useless,
IMO.

Another thing: are you looking inside the Explorer search results? Try
instead navigating to the folder in a newly-opened non-search window.
You really should be having no trouble seeing AppData...

I was going to mention that in my other post, except that when I set it
to see what would happen, it didn't hide my AppData folder...

Meanwhile, thanks for the follow-up!

Neither. He's using a web browser as a file manager.

I'm using SeaMonkey, but a much later version and a Beta one at that!!
SM 2.18b2. The latest general release version is SM 2.17.1, so you might
want to update to that, when this problem is sorted out.

In SM, have a look at Edit->Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings and select
"Server Settings" on your Mail account. On that screen, have a look at
"Local directory", this is roughly where you want to be looking for things.

Next, in SM, have a look at Tools->Switch Profiles. Do you see more
profiles than you would expect?? If there are other profiles, check them
out to see if your original profile is still there.

If you need it, you can get further assistance in the
mozilla.support.seamonkey group, either on Groups-Google or on the
news.mozilla.org server.
