SOLVED Audio probs:

I get good audio from a USB headset, but no audio at all from external speakers. If I go into playback devices, right click Speakers (already the Default Device) and click Test, the little level meter registers sound, but nothing from the speakers. Brand new problem, just started today. System restore was no success.

You say it just started, meaning it used to work with these same speakers? What has changed ... is the headset new? Is there any chance the speakers are plugged into the wrong spot ... usually it is green? or that the power to the speakers was disconnected? How about if you unplug the USB headset ... some connections can automatically disable others?

Have you tried the Windows fix-it for audio?
