Hi Brethren,

I made a change to .lnk extension in the association and after that I am getting all my desktop icons with .lnk links. All look alike and their original characters gone.

I can't open them and I had to go to my computer to open the word documents too.

I have tried repairs with MS Office 2010 but no luck. Shall I re-install my Office 2010 please?

Would I lose my .pst file as I have many addreses and information there?
How could I copy those addresses or open my .pst file to copy?

Try restoring your computer to a recent restore point. Type "system restore" in the search box. And choose a recent restore point prior to your changes.

hI bRETHREN,

i WATCHED A yOUTUBE VIDEO AND FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS. rUN TO REGEDIT TO hkey USER to software to microsoft - current version to explorer to file extns to .lnk. And I deleted the bottom link and restarted my Computer. It won't shut down and so shut it off by switching power off. After restarting, everything was set to original.

Thanks for the replies.
