Alarm Clock

Although I no longer use either, in my view TClock has always been
*much* better than TClockex.
I preferred TClockEx because of the little pop-up calendar, which
TClock didn't have. It works perfectly fine (in XP) except for the
slight display issue, which was easy enough to put up with.

TCLock 2010 has a calendar, so now I'm even happier.

I use Chameleon Clock under Windows 7 64 bit.
Chameleon Clock seems to be out of production now but I've used it
since Windows 3.1 and it still works OK with Windows 7 64 bit . Price
$29.99.

I'm fairly elderly and rely on Chameleon Clock for reminders & alarms.

I do believe that I am going to go with Chameleon. It does everything
Atomic Alarm Clock does. It has more bells and whistles than AAC but I will
only use what I need. There was only one slightly annoying qurik in Win 7
and that was that every time I added or changed anything it would refresh
my wallpaper and change it to "center" instead of "fill". I was using a
picture of my own so I just cured it by resizing the picture to the full
screen dimesnsions.

So I decided I'd install it in XP too. That revealed another bug (for me
anyway) and that is that it won't play wav files. I have a different sound
file for every hour (chime + "it's one o'clock PM") and they simply
wouldn't play. I noticed the default chime played OK and discovered it was
an mp3. So I cured *that* problem by mass converting all 24 of my wav files
to mp3 using Ashampoo MP3 AudioCenter. The mp3s work just fine.

Thanks for leading me to it! As well as it works, I'm surprised I haven't
heard of it before. Google wasn't showing it using "Windows 7 Alarm Clock".
Or if it was, I missed it.

I first heard of it with Windows 3.1.

If you want help post in this newsgroup under Chameleon Clock.

Going back a number of years I wanted to remind myself to feed my dogs
at a particular time.

I went though my available sounds and selected a duck quaking I was
never going to use for anything else.

On the third night 2 Airedale Terriers went flying outside after they
heard, Quake Quake and waiting for their dinner,

You need dumber dogs :)

And we can bow our heads in solemn homage to Ivan Pavlov.

Perhaps I'll run across someone here who had Atomic Alarm Clock in XP.
I have it and I dual boot XP and Windows 7 (64 bit). The app won't work in
Windows 7 and the author does not intend to support it.

That's too bad because I like it a lot. You can set up alarms/reminders for
any ocassion. It allows hourly, weekly, monthly, yearly and one time only
alarms. It pops up a message and/or plays a sound at the designated time.
I have an hourly chime, for instance. All my doctor's and other
appointments are all scheduled a day ahead as reminders. Several of my
friends and relatives' birthdays are in there.
For well over a decade, I've used Microsoft's old Schedule
Plus for an appointment scheduler. I've tried several
others, but Sched+ has the best ability to set alarms for
times like "the 3rd Tuesday of every 2nd month".

Some kind sould still has a difinitive web page dedicated to
it:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~bogaarts/outlook.htm#calendar

But it probably has been a couple of years now since I've
reviewed more current candidates.

Good luck in your search, and be sure to let us know what
you find.
