If it prompts you for the output file location, check that you
have write permissions in that folder. You can permanently change the
saved file location using Properties after selecting Adobe PDF as
printer ("Adobe PDF Output Folder" under the "Adobe PDF Settings" tab.)

HTH,

Thanks, but the problem is it does "not" prompt for an output file location.
Selecting "Properties" for the "Adobe PDF" printer shows the following tabs ...

1) Layout
2) Paper/Quality
3) image of Adobe logo - Adobe PDF Conversion Settings

The "Adobe PDF Conversion Settings" tab shows the following ...

1) Default Settings: Standard
2) Adobe PDF Security: <blank>
3) Adobe PDF Folder: <blank>
4) Adobe PDF Page Size: <Letter>

The "Adobe PDF Folder" drop down has only two options,
<blank> or "LPT1:", and clicking on "Browse" does nothing.

Here's a thread regarding the problem that I'm having ...
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/303003

The Adobe PDF printer is associated with the "LPT1:" printer port,
which doesn't look right.

The thread also provides the following solution (thanks to Peter_Aguinaldo) ...

1) Go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
2) Select "Acrobat - Windows" under "Find Product Updates"
3) Click "Go" button
4) Install the following update did the trick ...

Adobe Acrobat 8.1 Professional and Standard update - English, French, German,
and Japanese 36.2MB 6/5/2007

But, there are many more updates. Do I need to install "all" updates
one-by-one?
Or, will installing just the latest update be equivalent? Please advise.

Adobe releases incremental updates via it's auto update utility. OR, you
can go to their web site and download the latest, full version, which
includes all the updates. You would probably have more luck finding a
solution there.

You don't buy Adobe Reader, it's a free download. Unfortunately, I
don't have any answers for the OP. I always use CutePDF as my pdf
printer.

Sorry, that's not correct. Adobe Reader is free.

Moreover, you don't *need* to use Adobe Reader for that. There are
other choices, such as the also free Foxit Reader
(http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/reader/), which is faster, and in my
view, better, than Adobe Reader.

Drvice and Printers, add or change a printer, to Adobe PDF
Converter.....Port.
