Windows 7 PC Unable to Sync Time

I need some advice. I know Windows 7 is end-of-life (EOL), but we still use it due to a legacy system. Recently, our test engineers noticed an issue where the Windows 7 PC's time does not sync, causing the legacy system to capture the wrong date and time. The system relies on the PC's time, not NTP time.

Many articles suggest this issue could be due to a failing CMOS battery. However, the test engineers want to explore other potential causes and understand whether moving the legacy system to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC would prevent this time sync issue.

We explained that the lifespan of a CMOS battery is typically 5 to 6 years, but no one can guarantee its exact duration. I'm struggling to explain this convincingly and may be missing other potential causes.

Can anyone provide further insights or suggestions on this matter?
