Windows 7 and fonts

In the older versions of Windows we were cautioned against having a large
number of fonts because the Windows OS loaded them all as a resource and a
large number could cut down on efficiency. Does Windows 7 do the same thing?
Seems that many apps I install load a number of their own fonts into the
fonts folder so I've accumulated quite a few. Thanks for any help.

I don't think that Windows 7 has any limit on the number of fonts, but
certain applications might have some trouble with large numbers of
them, especially when presenting choice lists for you. Also, Windows
font management features are pretty crude, but there are third-party
font managers available if you need them.

Not as much an issue on Win 7 than XP. Will likely still be an issue
if the font count is something north of 10,000 or more. Of course, NO
ONE needs 10,000 fonts.

As a graphic designer I don't need more than ten fonts at most.
Any more and the work starts to look very amateur.

Font count is not an issue in the NT line of Windows, only the DOS
versions had that problem.

The "magic" number is reputed to be over 10,000 fonts.
If you have this many, you have some problems!
