Hi, thanks for your reply.

It says under the heading 'Visual Studio Block' it's missing required
prerequisites, 'one of the supported MS Visual Studio 2005 products'.

Under the heading 'Visual Studio 2005 Locale Block' it's missing 'the
corresponding Visual Studio localized edition'.

Is there a .net framework I need to install first or something?

Oh, "trouble", uh huh.

--- Posting Hints ---

ALWAYS REVIEW your message before submitting it. You want someone OTHER
than yourself to understand your post. Also remember that no one here
is looking over your shoulder to see at what you are pointing. If you
don't well explain your situation by providing the DETAILS that you
already know, don't expect others to know what is your situation.
Explain YOUR computing environment and just what actions you take to
reproduce the problem - and describe the problem so OTHERS know of what
you are asking for help.

Often you get just one chance per potential respondent to elicit a reply
from them. If they skip your post because you gave them nothing to go
on (no details, no versions, no OS, no context) then they will usually
move on to the next post and never return to yours.

How to post to newsgroups:

Regarding error or status messages:
- Do NOT omit the message.
- Do NOT describe the message.
- Do NOT summarize the message.
- Do NOT paraphrase the message.
- Do NOT truncate the message.
- Do show the ENTIRE message (but munge or star out personal info,
like your username in an e-mail address but not the domain).
And DETAIL the steps to reproduce the error or problem.

Bye.

Thanks for the link! It says there "To use Visual Studio 2005 on
Windows 7 you will need to install both Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack
1 and the Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista."

So I downloaded both patches and they won't install because I guess VS
2005 express of some flavor needs to be on the win7 machine. After some
searching, I managed to find this page where I can download various
flavors, but how do I know which one I need?

I need this just so that Visual studio 2005 tools for Office SE will
install, so which flavor does it need?

Thanks again.

If you are working with VB, then you install VB. If it's C#, then you
install C#.

I'm working with Visual studio 2005 tools for Office SE, does that use
VB instead of C#?

I don't know. But I suspect they are objects and program development
temples that can be used by C# or VB for MS Office solutions.

If you developing is C# use C#. If VB then use VB. Yoy can install VB
and C# Express on the machine and see what happens when you do the
office install.
