How do I get rid of the icon?

The Quick Launch is not on the Taskbar unless you added it back. If you are
just speaking of an item pinned to the Taskbar, see if this helps.

How to Take Ownership of a Item in Vista. Also works in Windows 7

You are probably not *the* administrator, but a user with *some*
administrator privileges. Microsoft's terminology is confusing...

You might have to log on as *the* administrator to get rid of that.

Open a command prompt in Administrator mode and run this command:
net user Administrator /active:yes

Then you can switch user to *the* Administrator and fix the problem.

Later do this:
net user Administrator /active:no

to close that loophole until it's needed again.

Perhaps already addressed in the disconnected same thread you started
in the 24hoursupport.helpdesk newsgroup. Probably due to your UAC
settings in Windows 7 although the Take Ownership tweak would probably
let you continue at the current UAC setting.
