Hi

Could I ask for some advice please?

I have an Acer laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit preinstalled, presumably an OEM version. However, I have a legitimate Windows 7 Ultimate retail version DVD (also 64bit) and product key. How can I upgrade the original OS to Ultimate retail? Can I just install the retail version over the OEM and put in my new product key? I do not want to do a clean install as I would rather keep all the installed drivers etc and not have to download and reinstall them. I also don't want to have to buy an Anytime Upgrade as well.

Any advice please?

TIA

Yes, you should be able to do an upgrade install. Do you really need the features of Ultimate? Most people don't or won't have any need for them.

Put in the Ultimate DVD while in Windows 7 and it should direct you from there on the upgrade process.
