Strange Windows update problem

Running Win7 Pro Sp1 64bit on a Thinkpad T61p connected to a Rogers
LTE Rocket Stick (Sierra Air Card 330U) When attempting an update I
get error code 8024402C. I've tried all the MS fixit tools, searched
various MS and assorted tech sites for help...No Joy. Here's the
strange part...no problem updating through DLS ethernet or wireless!!!

You don't mention exactly what you've tried, so you might have already seen
this page and its possible culprits:
<http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Windows-Update-error-8024402C>

If you've done everything and still have the problem, it's possibly a proxy
server in the Rogers wireless network, or at least that would be my first
guess. If so, there probably isn't much you can do about it except to do
your updates when connected to a different network.

I had the same error and update problem discussed recently on this NG:

s["I changed my adapter's preferred and Alternate DNS server to 4.2.2.1
and 4.2.2.2 respectively.
Before I changed it as above, it was set to 'obtain DNS server
automatically' "]

I'd be interested to hear whether the solution that worked on my
computer also works with your connection via 'Rogers LTE Rocket Stick'

The attached link provides a tool enabling manual updates, however, in
my case it did not fix the underlying problem!
