Startup problem

I have installed Win 7 on XP by a full setup with no problem, but now when I switch on now I get a message asking me which window system do I want to open with Windows 7 highlighted. is there anyway I can get rid of this. Why does it freezing approx. every
5 - 6 mins and last for 2 - 3 mins.

Help please
