I don't know of any way. It is possible to limit it to a date range such as 12/01/2013 thru 12/31/2013 but not to "any December"

In the search box you can use something like:
*.jpg
or:
*.png
or:
*.gif
or the generic:
kind:pictures

and then click the DateModified parameter

thanks . sometimes the datemodified option is there and sometimes it is date taken - in that little dropdown box in the search area.
so would i type kind:pictures datetaken 12/01/2013 thru 12/31/2013 ?

In that picture the column headings & path being displayed are covered by the search window on top. Could I see a separate screenshot?

On that screen the field you see is "Date", which is not what you searched for. So if you wanted the column you can currently see use DATE:
kind:pictures date:12/01/2013-12/31/2013

There are many fields associated with pictures, you can add the others to your display: Right-click in the column headings and add columns "DateModified" & "DateTaken". When you search you will get results based on the specific column you enter, no matter what columns are displayed.

i changed the other screen to show date taken. they were the same dates. so the date search did not find what was there!
