I managed to get rid of it from a friend's riddled laptop but can't
remember exactly how. It could have been by Restore to Earlier Date.

Have you tried disabling it from your browser's add-ons?

No guarantees, though. I finally got rid of the Claro search redirect,
which includes Babylon, by using system restore from a date before I
installed Claro. So far, it's stayed away.

Short of flattening and starting with a fresh OS install, you'll never
really know that unauthorized software is completely gone.
