Screen Went Gray

I opened up my laptop and was about to use a program but it kept running then all of a sudden my screen went gray and turned all my setting to windows 95 look and I ended up losing my sound and my internet capabilities. Everything got disabled and turned everything back on and got my sound back and the look I had on there back but still no internet capabilities still comes up with and error no matter what I do. Any ideas????
