Retrieving Lost Recycle Bin

Have read a lot about retrieving lost Recycle Bins, but when I go to the Desktop Icon Settings dialog box, I can't place the checkmark in front of Recycle Bin. The little box does not let me fill it in. Need a hand with that. Good day to all.

1. Were you using this method ?.............
Right click at the open space of desktop > Personalize > left column, Change desktop icons > under Desktop Icons heading, put a checkmark at Recycle Bin > click OK when done.
If that is what you did, and the box is grayed out, then do a system restore. Pick a date when your recycle bin was present as your restore point.
