received a new laptop battery dated 2/2014 Is this old-returned it.

I bought a 593553-001 - Brand New HP Original Battery - MU06 (GENERIC PACKAGING) for my HP laptop from amazon. I received it today but the battery manufacture dare was 2/2014. This battery is 15 months old before I use it . I sent it back. Did I do the right thing and how old should a new batter at time of purchase . I did not even test battery

Unless old stock is depleted, I highly doubt new batteries will be made. That is the trouble with model specific merchandise. Not enough demand, usually made in bulk, and then sold over time.

I agree with Clifford, plus modern batteries don't deteriorate in the same way that they may have done 15 years ago, so if the battery was unused then it'd probably just fine .
