Computer OS: Windows 7
Browser: IE8

Running W7 32bit. Used Windows Easy Transfer to copy over my settings & old info. When I plugged in my HP Deskjet 5650 into new W7 computer, it was recognized and I have been using it. Today all of a sudden it acts dead, will not print anything not even a test page. Ran all the driver updates and diabnostic tools I could find and they say there is nothig wrong with printer. Even tried to reinstall printer from CD disk but it would not let me install it.

W7 acknowledges it as the default printer. It seems to me something changed in the W7 settings but I have no idea what. I did do a defrag and disk cleanup Sat night before I closed down.

I have XP on same computer and different partition and it works just fine.

I was advised to "Updated drivers link is here...". I did and no drivers seem to be missing.
I was then told: Restart the Print Spooler device
1.On the Windows taskbar, click Start, click Control Panel , and then double-click Administrative Tools .
2.Double-click Services .
3.In the list of Services , double-click Print Spooler . The Print Spooler Properties window opens.
4.Click Stop to stop the Print Spooler.
5.Click Start to restart the Print Spooler.
6.Click OK .
7.Restart the computer.
8.Try printing again.

I did this but no luck. I do not know where to go from here.
Help please.

There are no Windows 7 drivers available for download from HP, they are native in the Windows 7 operating system.

See this quote from the HP website:

A full feature software and driver package for Windows 7 is not available for your product.

However, the drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system!

You do not need to download drivers to use the product.

With the basic driver, some of the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. However, using the workaround procedures in this document, you can still print from a software program. You can also import and view images on a memory card, if your product has a memory card slot.
Use the following instructions to install the basic driver in Windows 7, and then review the workaround procedures to use the available features for your product.
Go HERE to read the rest of the information in order to properly install the drivers for you printer!

The top of the web page is as follows:

Installing the Product with the USB Cable and Using the Driver Located in the Windows 7 Operating System

Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and if there is anything in that folder, delete it. Make sure your spooler service is running (you don't have to reboot) and try to print.

Thanks roban,
Unfortunately I had found this site and checked it all out. The workaround for the HP printer worked just as the site said. Then out of the blue it stopped responding. It workes just fine on XP which is on this computer in another partition. Patti

Roban, in response to the spool\printers, there was noting in the folder. I also checked the system spooler is on automatic. Nothing more happens.
Anything else?
