How can I make a new window open on top of the others? I was browsing through some images and every time I open one, it's below the parent folder.

Please be more specific. What program were you using to browse pictures?

If you are using Windows Explorer and Preview them with Windows Photo Viewer then each new iteration of Windows Photo Viewer should open on top.

Yeah, I just use Windows photo viewer, but I've noticed it with other pop up windows also like notifications from running programs. They always pop up below whatever I have on the screen at the time.

Apparently there was an issue with the W7 RC not bringing new windows forward but I haven't seen it myself in the current OS.

It could be a registry issue. Could you run regedit and check Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and see what the setting is for ForegroundLockTimeout? In the RC issue, changing this to 0 was the recommended solution but for now I just want to see if you have a different value than I do. Mine is at (I believe) default of 200,000.

Then I suspect it's something running in the background causing issues. What else is running in memory?
