Microsoft Essentials Stalled

I ran Essentials on a full scan, 5 hours. It found two problems and
quarantined them both. I allowed the program to remove then. I noticed
a red Clean PC, which apparently had cornered four more threats, so let
it clean them up. The slider bar has been stuck at about 75% for 20
minutes now. What's up? Should I just kill the program (Exit via the X
in the upper right of the window)?

If ES is trying to remove stuff, then do a reboot to let it complete the
cleaning of stuff it has done. That what ES will do at times is force
you to reboot after a cleaning. You should go back and run the scan
again IMO.

Well, I killed it and tried again. Same results, so I rebooted. This
time Clean only showed one of the four or five it listed before.
Adware:Win32/OpenCandy. However, it stalls the slider bar that shows
completion. Exactly the same place.

Will mseinstall.exe help? What does it do?
