The technology giant has finally acknowledged the issue, saying that it
affects products such as Camtasia Studio, Adobe Premiere Pro, Serif
MoviePlus, and YouTube Movie Maker.

What is nice with Windows, is that with daily updates, it is now an
ongoing beta release ;^)

One more reason to not allow automatic updates on any Windows machine.
Notify me YES but do not install without my express permission! Can you
hear this Steve Ballmer?

I always make an image of my C: drive /before/ installing Windows
Updates. Patch Tuesday is always on the same day. No point in waiting to
install those updates... What are you going to do, wait forever?

Wait until end of the month when all known bugs would have been ironed
out. Patch Tuesday doesn't mean your machine will stop working until
you patch it up.

Don't you find that a lot of work all the time?

M$ will fix problems ASAP I would like to think.

But it leaves it vulnerable until they are installed.

I like the image-before-update approach! :)

+1. I take daily images (it only takes seconds for an incremental), and
can restore C: in minutes in that situation. But I've never had to
after updates.

You already have that option.

But what good would it do in this case? When there are dozens of
"security updates", who has time to research each one and make a
decision?

Hey dude, you don't have to research for anything. Wait for 15 days and
by that time you will hear about the bad ones on these newsgroups or M$
Forums. Rocket science isn't it?

How does MS correct these botched updates? Do they modify the original
leaving the KB no the same or do they issue an update removing the
previous update and issue a new update to redo the job? Or what?
Sorry for the rather basic question! Iv tended to steer clear of most
updating.

IMHO System Restore is a very poor choice when you need a system backup.
Why? What is an update likely to do that isn't captured in a restore
point?

Don't you find that a lot of work all the time?
10 minutes for Macrium Reflect to create an image of my C: drive (SSD;
26,4 GiB used space) and another 5 minutes to copy it to an external hdd
(USB 3.0).
M$ will fix problems ASAP I would like to think.
I don't experience problems so far...

He is jobless so it doesn't matter.
FYI I work 38,25 hours a week, but I can spare 15 minutes of my free
time to create an image and copy it to an external hdd. Hell, I even got
a minute to waste for your comment...
