Lost this web-browsing trick

W

walter

I am using windows 7 with IE 9. It used to be that, if I highlighted a word
while browsing the internet, a little square with an arrow in it appeared
next to the highlighted word. If I clicked on this box, it would take me
directly to a Bing search for the word I had highlighted.

I did not install any add-ons to IE9, therefore, this feature must be an
integral part of Win7/IE9

This feature has disappeared for unknown reasons. How can I get it back?

Thanks

See section on "Accelerator", as that appears to be the term for the feature.

One person here, needed to change their locale (UK to US or whatever), to
get more accelerator options to appear as Add-ons. There may have been a
change from IE8 to IE9 on those, so you'd have to install them.

Click Search Providers and you should see the word "Accelerators" there.
(It's the rightmost menu and doesn't work as well as it should.)

Since I'm doing this from Firefox, I don't know if this is the
right link for you or not. This claims to be the one for Bing search.
I assume, if I clicked my stupid buttons in the right order, this
is an Accelerator for Bing search.
