i freshly installed windows 7 64 bit on my pc but the dxdiag box says it's a 32 bit version...why is that?

my pc config is

Perhaps your dx is 32bit. If you go to Control Panel/System what does your System type tell you.

I have a 64 bit Windows 7 installed.

From the attached screenshot you can see that the DXDiag is listed as 32 bit then the OS is listed as 64 bit and there is a DXDiag 64 bit button too.

Hope this solves the puzzle for you.

If you want it to show 64bit click the "Run 64-bit DxDiag" button at the bottom. Initially the 32-bit version will run.
